Project Statement
In this project, we learn how to express the ideas of what a place is and the ideas behind it through the means of photography. This project was super fun for me because it gave me the excuse to explore a historical landmark in my town, Chapel Hill, called Gimghoul Castle. This castle served as the headquarters of the Order of Gimghoul, a secret society affiliated with UNC Chapel Hill. It's connected to a trail that runs through the campus and other neighborhoods in the area, which I also decided to capture while exploring. I learned how I could capture an area and show/give it a story without just capturing the landscape as it is. We learned how just a small amount of movement can make a huge difference in how we can capture a landscape.
